A little better, A little worse

So Ben had a major meltdown at daycare dropoff today - so bad that Brent called me about it. That means it's pretty bad. I called the daycare lady and she said yup - Ben cries every time she tries to talk to him. He just asks when I'm coming to pick him up. She did say he played with the kids today for the first time - but he was still weeping when I picked him up.

I had lunch with my friend Cathy. She is so awesome - I wish we either lived closer, or had more time to hang out. She has been an incredible work mentor, friend, scrapbook buddy and in general a person I really look up to. I can always count on a couple hours for lunch when we get together.

Work sucks. That is all.

I also have an unpleasant dr appt to make this week - blech!

Also - for all you people who think kids are cute and cuddly - remember they come with responsibility. I totally understand working to support your family - but come on - don't sign your kids up for a million activities if you aren't around to drive them. And don't think that your amazing Sister in Law is willing to schlep your kids all over ! For good grief Gilmore Girls is on tonite and you want me to bring your kids to Karate?! What are they thinking!! :)

Quite banging your head against the wall

and just see the answer that's right in front of you. Just because it's not the answer you want, doesn't mean it's not the RIGHT answer.

Got it.
Lesson learned.

Moving on,
what a great day today! The kind of day that makes Monday mornings even harder than normal.

Start your engines

I have been hearing this from Ben lately. The racing season has started early here and I'm already sick of it. I didn't even get 5 months off like I normally do! I'm trying to get out of the house (because I have to go to the race engine builder's) but Ben NEEDED to have one more pit meeting and race before we can go. Ben knows way more about race car construction than a normal 4 yr old should. Example: turning the hotwheels cars over and saying "oh no, he lost a tranny!" This of course brings major pride to Brent.. but I have my revenge by Ben loving to scrapbook and glitter! And the kid loves Target - but who doesn't!?

Ahh... Thursday

It's Thursday night, I'm done with work, the boys are playing racing junk outside - the world is good. I hate hate hate work lately. It's lonely and boring and the only people I do see/talk to are not nice. Not only are they not nice: they are just plain crazy. If you know where I work, you know who I'm talking about. Thank God for Betty! She is my work idol - she is going through some crappy personal stuff but it never effects her *sparkly pink* attitude! Plus her sense of humor is just like mine!
Lots of errands on tap for Friday, then snow football with Brent's family on Saturday. Since I don't care to get smeared into the ground by friends and strangers alike, I'm bringing this scrapbook project along to work on. Brent's mom asked me to help her get a book together for her parent's anniversary.
Plus we need to cram in some super snuggly time with Ben - the new daycare transition is not easy. He's cried two out of the three days I've picked him up. He always says "I just missed you so much". Then tonite a toy he hardly plays with broke and he was hysterical for 1/2 hour. Cried like I haven't heard him cry in ages. Poor guy.

Just as promised

As promised, here are some pictures that I've been threatening to add to the blog!
It's all here for your viewing pleasure - the scan is awful - I really want a 12x12 scanner, but I doubt that is going to happen.

My exciting weekend of fun with my friend from school was not. I was not feeling well, and feeling like a real downer because of it. It was still fun but I could have been a better hostess. Next time she comes (which may be soon!!?) I WILL be better!

There is so much that I've been trying to say, but I can't find my words, so instead I will post this great scripture I ran across today that has really given me some peace:

... I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee

FRIDAY !

I'm so excited for Fridays - my love of Fridays starts late Wed night, and I'm giddy all day on Thursday. Being at work on Thursday and knowing that I don't have to work the next day is great!
This particular Friday is especially exciting becuase I get to pick up my friend at the airport and there is drunken silliness planned for the weekend. Ben went to work with Brent tody so I can get ready, get the house 1/2 cleaned up and run errands. My sister is supposed to leave for Boston on Saturday, but is so sick, I don't know if she will go. So I'm running an errand for her as well.
I entered some scrap pages in a contest at a local scrap store... we'll see if anything becomes of it. I'm trying not to get my hopes up.
Do you watch the "Office" on NBC ? Man, that show cracks me up - it seems like we can all relate to someone in that office - which makes you wonder... which one is me??

Purse Love

So, I've eagerly been awaiting my new purses - they had a very long plane ride and are now safe and sound at home. All cheap knock-offs and that is how I like it!! My fav is the little white louis in the back! Thanks to my sister Kim!
Big big weekend planned - did a little happy dance in my office (thankfully no one saw) because I get to pick up my friend at the airport. Haven't seen her in 5+ yrs and I can't wait to get all caught up.
Can't decide if I should enter one of my scrapbook pages into a local store's contest. My style isn't exactly the same as the rest of their customers... we'll see. The prize is $100 g.c. and that is pretty tempting..

Why

Why is life so hard? It seems like the current stage you are in is always the hardest. That sucks.

Here's one thing that doesn't suck: purses. My new purses are coming home on Wednesday (oh yeah, and my sister who is bringing them from Malyasia) and I can't wait. But along with that, is another sucky thing: she is leaving again for 3 wks to work in Boston. Her, her hubby, and her cuties Ella and Erika.

Coming soon: embarrassing photo from 10 yrs ago - especially for someone extra special!!

Some more SB pages

I've been really rocking the scrapbooking this weekend!

This one is of Kim's twins - their first christmas.

"Christmas cuties"

This is brent & george (1995). The background is a really nice brown and the dark vertical strip is a red that matched the photo turn.

This is a terrible photo of brent and i from the night we met (dec 31, 1995), but I couldn't resist scrapping it - how many people have a pic from the night they met their spouse???

This is ben at the pedal pull in august 2005, he wasn't scared (like he always is of new things) and brent was so proud of ben being in the 'outlaw' class because he was too young to compete in the sanctioned class. The pic is pretty bad, but I distressed the edges with paint (instead of ink) for the first time - and i dig it!!

thanks for looking! barb

I'm on a roll

I'm in the scrapping mood again - finally. The red page talks about the challenges of getting 3 kids to pay attention to the camera guy - the resulting photo shows them all looking in different directions - showing just how Feisty they are. The purple page (my sister and her family) is way cooler in real life - it looks a little washed out in the photo.
Coming soon: a page I'm working on with a photo from the night Brent and I met.
Barb, Brent & Ben - Nov 2005
This is the only photo of all three of {us} - good thing it's recent ! There was some major threatening to get Ben to sit still enough for a photo.

Hey - what are you looking at??

It's my new blog!!

Someday I'll have something really exciting to add here, but for now - this is it.
:) Barb
